Biography

Mauro Rodriguez Jr. is an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering at Brown University, specializing in Mechanical Engineering. He completed his B.S. degree in Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010, followed by an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University in 2012. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2018, under the supervision of Associate Professor Eric Johnsen. His doctoral research focused on high-fidelity computational fluid dynamic simulations of bubble dynamics near linear viscoelastic media. Following his Ph.D., Rodriguez was a postdoctoral research fellow at the California Institute of Technology, mentored by Professor Tim Colonius. His current research interests include cavitation bubble dynamics near viscoelastic materials, utilizing advanced computational fluid dynamics to investigate wave bubble dynamics relevant to energy science, naval engineering, and medical applications, such as ultrasound therapy for treating pathogenic tissues.
