Dr. Max Edling

Biography

Max Edling is an expert in Early American History and focuses on the American founding and the early United States. He earned his undergraduate degree from Lund University, his MPhil from University College Dublin, and his PhD in history from Cambridge University. He also holds a PhD in political science from Stockholm University and was awarded a Docent degree from Uppsala University in 2012. Edling has held positions at Uppsala University and Loughborough University before joining King's College London in the same year. He has held visiting appointments at Cornell University and the Stanford Humanities Center, as well as the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study. His publications include significant works such as 'A Revolution Favor Government: Origins U.S. Constitution Making American State' and 'Hercules Cradle: War, Money, American State 1783-1867'. His research examines the fiscal systems and public finances of the United States in the aftermath of the American Revolution and the Civil War. Edling's teaching covers North American history post-1865, with a special emphasis on the American Revolution and the early republic. He is actively involved in editorial boards of influential journals in his field and engages the public with essays and reviews.
