Biography

Max Z. Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial & Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with courtesy appointments in Aerospace Engineering and Civil Environmental Engineering. He received his PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2021, and also holds a Master of Science in Engineering in Systems Engineering, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics, both from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. His research interests are focused on air transportation systems, airport and airline operations, Advanced Air Mobility, and networked systems, with a particular emphasis on optimization and control. Max is a member of several professional societies, including the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including the Paper Award at the 2020 INFORMS Annual Meeting and the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship in 2018.
