Biography

Maxwell T. Ma, M.D. is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at UW Medicine. He specializes in neuromuscular diseases and performs electrodiagnostic studies at the Veterans Affairs hospital. His clinical interests focus on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as myasthenia gravis, inflammatory myopathies, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease), and peripheral neuropathies, particularly small fiber neuropathy. Dr. Ma is also engaged in research regarding the genetic basis of idiopathic neuropathies. He has a passion for medical education and was recognized with a faculty teaching award in 2018. Dr. Ma completed his medical education at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in 2010, followed by an internship in Internal Medicine and a residency in Neurology at the University of Washington. He furthered his training with a fellowship at UC San Diego in 2015. He is board certified in Clinical Neurophysiology and Neurology.
