Dr. Maya Abdallah

Biography

Maya M. Abdallah, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Boston University's Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in Hematology and Oncology. She earned her medical degree from the University of Balamand in Lebanon and completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School–Baystate, where she also served as chief resident. Following her residency, Dr. Abdallah completed a combined fellowship in geriatrics, hematology, and oncology at Boston University. Her clinical focus is on patients with hematologic malignancies, particularly myeloid disorders in older adults. She actively integrates geriatric assessment tools into hematology practice to guide treatment decisions aimed at improving outcomes for older patients, especially within underserved populations. As a member of various national organizations, including the American Society of Hematology, she contributes to advancing practices in geriatric oncology and addressing health disparities. Dr. Abdallah is committed to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic medicine and advocates for the success of diverse trainees. Her long-term objective is to establish a clinical research program dedicated to improving equitable care for older adults facing hematologic cancers, particularly in resource-limited settings.
