Biography

Maya Cachecho holds a doctorate in law from the University of Montreal. Her research focuses on corporate law, the functioning of the financial market, and the collateralization of intermediated securities (under Quebec, national, and international law). She is currently leading two research projects concerning legal issues related to financial intermediation practices and the legal and ethical issues surrounding the use of financial technologies (Fintech). Maya teaches at all three levels of university education, including the general doctoral seminar, business law, law of guarantees, private international law, and the foundations of private law. She contributed to the creation of the Quebec Institute for Law and Justice Reform (IQRDJ), where she served as the first executive director and coordinated for several years the major research partnership Access to Law and Justice (ADAJ).
