Dr. Maya Papineau

Biography

Maya Papineau is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Carleton University. She holds a B.A. from Carleton University, an M.Sc. from University College London, and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Her research interests lie primarily in environmental energy economics and applied econometrics, focusing on climate change, energy efficiency policy, renewable energy, and sustainable development. Over her academic career, Professor Papineau has published numerous articles in reputable journals, exploring various aspects of energy policy and its implications. Her recent work investigates energy efficiency retrofits and their implications for net-zero housing policy, examining disparities in energy poverty among Canadian households, and the impact of telework on energy consumption. Professor Papineau is also engaged in educating the next generation of economists through her teaching and supervision of graduate students.
