Professor Dr. Mayank Sabharwal

Biography

Mayank Sabharwal is an Assistant Professor in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary. He completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta in 2019 and holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science-Pilani, awarded in 2011. His research focuses on operando imaging diagnostics of electrochemical systems utilizing X-ray computed tomography and synchrotron beamlines to investigate transient fluid behavior in various electrochemical applications including water electrolyzers, fuel cells, and redox flow batteries. He develops numerical models to simulate transport processes at the pore scale, which are crucial for understanding electrochemical reactions in porous media. His team is actively working on challenges pertaining to green hydrogen production and is looking for motivated graduate students to join their research efforts.
