Biography

Maysa Eissa Nichter is an Assistant Teaching Professor at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Her teaching, research, and community engagement initiatives aim to enhance the university's pre-law curriculum and support various programs. Maysa teaches courses including Introduction to Legal Reasoning, Introduction to Business Law, Introduction to Contracts, and Introduction to Intellectual Property. Before joining UCSD, she practiced law in the fields of intellectual property, corporate, and finance law at McDermott, Emery LLP, where she successfully represented asylum applicants in partnership with the National Committee for Refugees and Immigrant Children. Maysa also served as a Staff Attorney at ChangeLab Solutions, a project of the Public Health Institute, years prior to her transition into teaching and administration. With over a decade of experience in both the legal practice and academia, Maysa directs the UCSD Krinsk-Houston Law & Politics Initiative and UCSD's Local Internship Research Program, in addition to serving as the faculty advisor for the Moot Court team, the Undergraduate Law Review, and the Pre-Law Coalition. She has recently been honored with UCSD's Academic Senate Distinguished Teaching Award and Eleanor Roosevelt College's 2025 Outstanding Faculty Award. Maysa is a proud alumna of the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and the University of California, Los Angeles.
