Biography

Mazed Islam is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Southampton, focusing on sustainability in fashion textiles, sustainable supply chain management, and the digital transformation of the fashion industry. He obtained his PhD from the University of Manchester, UK, researching sustainable practices and circularity within fashion textiles. With over 16 years of experience in the global fashion textiles industry and academia, Mazed has collaborated with renowned global brands and has been involved in numerous research projects as both Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator. He is a Fellow of Advance Higher Education UK, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and a Fellow of the Textile Institute. His extensive research, which includes over 50 publications in leading international journals, significantly contributes to the establishment of sustainable practices in fashion design, materials, methods, and processes. Mazed is also engaged in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervising M.Sc and PhD students, and is committed to developing the next generation of fashion leaders and researchers. He actively participates in the research community, serving on review panels and as a regular reviewer for esteemed journals in his field.
