Megan Huchko, MD, MPH, holds a dual appointment as Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and the Duke Global Health Institute. She completed her undergraduate studies at Duke before earning her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Huchko underwent residency training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and completed a fellowship in Reproductive Infectious Disease at the University of California, San Francisco. She practices as an ob/gyn generalist with a specialization in cervical cancer prevention and global women's health research. Her research aims to optimize the diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer for vulnerable women in settings where health disparities are prevalent. Since 2006, she has been involved with the Family AIDS Care Education Services (FACES) program in Nyanza Province, Kenya, where she designed and implemented a cervical cancer screening prevention program for HIV-infected women. Currently, she leads significant studies in central Uganda and western Kenya to evaluate optimal strategies for implementing HPV-based cervical cancer screening in rural settings. At Duke, Dr. Huchko directs the Center of Excellence in Global Women’s Health and the Ob/Gyn Clinical Research Unit at the Global Health Institute.
