Biography

Megan Lloyd completed her Bachelor of Applied Science at RMIT in Victoria in 1991. She has worked on Rickettsia research and has been employed as a clinical scientist at Fairfield Hospital and Katherine Hospital in the Northern Territory. She joined the University of Western Australia in 1995 and completed her PhD in reproductive immunology in 2007. Following this, she worked as a Research Associate in Professor Geoff Shellam's Research Group, focusing on congenital cytomegalovirus infection in mice and the impact of cytomegalovirus in breast milk while collaborating with the Perron Rotary Express Milk Bank at King Edward Memorial Hospital. Dr. Lloyd has conducted significant projects relating to SARS-CoV-2, collaborating with Valerie Verhasselt's laboratory at Telethon Kids Institute. Currently, she lectures in Immunology at UWA and her research interests primarily focus on aspects of cytomegalovirus infection. She is also actively engaged in projects contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically related to global health and research.
