The McNerney lab studies genomic changes in blood cancers to identify therapeutic vulnerabilities, focusing on myeloid malignancies that are particularly difficult to treat. We apply a variety of functional genomics approaches and model systems to decipher changes in the cancer genome. Current projects include studies of hematopoietic stem cell regulation, gene regulation in hematopoiesis, contiguous gene syndromes in cancer, and oncogenic signaling pathways. We aim to enhance the understanding of the genetic and epigenetic factors that contribute to blood cancers and their treatment, thereby contributing valuable insights to the field of hematology and oncology.
