Dr. Megan Ranney

Biography

Megan L. Ranney is an emergency physician and researcher who advocates for innovative public health approaches. She currently serves as the Dean of Yale School of Public Health and holds the C.-E. Winslow Professorship in Public Health, as well as a professorship in Emergency Medicine at Yale University. Dr. Ranney's career has been shaped by her experiences in the Peace Corps and over 20 years of practice in emergency medicine, focusing on issues such as motor vehicle safety, firearm violence, and the significance of equitable healthcare access. She has published extensively, with over 200 articles in respected journals including NEJM, JAMA, and Nature. A committed leader, she has been recognized by the National Academy of Medicine for her contributions to firearm injury prevention and digital health translation. Furthermore, Dr. Ranney has held leadership roles in various organizations aimed at public health advancement and is actively involved in mentoring researchers. Her educational background includes an MD from Columbia University and an MPH from Brown University, alongside a BA in History of Science from Harvard University.
