Biography

Megan Reilly is an award-winning designer, writer, and educator specializing in lighting and media design. Her work has been showcased in the UK and Ireland, with notable productions including Matilda, Ann, Christmas Carol, and 10,000 Balconies at TheatreSquared in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Reilly’s projects emphasize immersive storytelling that guides the audience through the performance experience. Over seven years, she has focused on researching and creating immersive, augmented, and virtual performances, exploring innovative ways to merge gaming with theatre. She has published in prominent journals, including the International Journal of Performance Arts and Digital Media, Ada: Journal of Gender, New Media, and Technology, and USITT’s Theatre Design & Technology journal. Reilly has contributed to numerous theatre companies in Austin and San Antonio, Texas, as well as collaborated on mixed-reality performances, including Transmission at the Edinburgh Fringe. Currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she also serves as the Vice Commissioner for Programming on the USITT Digital Media Commission, furthering her efforts in performance design education at the university.
