Dr. Megan Robb

Biography

Megan Eaton Robb is an Associate Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in South Asian religions. Her research primarily focuses on the history of Islam and gender in South Asia, examining the intersections of religion and identity throughout the 20th century. She teaches courses on Islam, gender, and colonialism, as well as media and religion in South Asia. Her notable works include her book 'Print Urdu Public: Muslims, Newspapers, Urban Life' published by Oxford University Press in October 2020, which investigates the cultural and political dynamics affecting Muslims in colonial India. Additionally, she has contributed to various academic journals and co-edited volumes exploring the Muslim League and critiques of the idea of Pakistan. Dr. Robb is currently working on a book project titled 'Becoming Elizabeth: Gender, Religion, Empire in the 18th Century,' which delves into the transformation of identities during that era. She is a Senior Fellow at the Andrew W. Mellon Society and actively participates in professional organizations related to her field.
