Dr. Meghan Sharp

Biography

Dr. Meghan Sharp is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Clinical Health from East Carolina University. Dr. Sharp completed a clinical psychology internship at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and a postdoctoral fellowship focused on Women's Mental Health at Geisinger Medical Center. Her research primarily addresses maternal mental health in the context of complicated pregnancy and childbirth. She leads ongoing research initiatives that explore the mental and emotional health impacts of adverse obstetric events such as pregnancy loss and severe maternal morbidity. Dr. Sharp has been involved in various funded research projects, including work on primary prevention strategies for posttraumatic stress symptoms following cesarean sections and resilience among women facing fertility challenges. Her commitment to integrating mental health support within obstetric care is evident in her work at Lifespan Obstetrics and Gynecology, where she serves as the director of Integrated Behavioral Health services. She also supervises the Obstetrics and Gynecology long-term psychotherapy rotation in the psychology internship training program at Brown University.
