Mehdi Sargolzaei is an Adjunct Faculty member and Director of Genetic Research Technology at Select Sires. He holds a B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in animal genetics and breeding, having received his MSc from Isfahan University of Technology in Iran and PhD from Niigata University in Japan. Since 2006, he has been involved with the Centre for Genetic Improvement of Livestock, where he contributed to the Genomic Selection project, which led to the official implementation of Genomic Evaluation for dairy cattle in Canada in 2009. Sargolzaei specializes in developing novel statistical methods and software tools aimed at analyzing large genomic datasets, with a keen interest in combining new statistical methodologies with advanced programming techniques. Currently, he works with Select Sires Inc., the largest dairy genetics company in North America. His research interests include the utilization of genomic information for livestock precision breeding, developing methodologies to enhance the accuracy of predicted genomic breeding values, immunogenomics, and computational genomics.
