Biography

Mehdi Tarkian is a Senior Associate Professor at Linköping University, specializing in Design Automation, Knowledge-Based Engineering (KBE), and Machine Learning Optimization. He has been actively working in the field since 2007 and has a strong industrial background. In 2012, he founded a spin-off company, XperDi, based on his research results. After returning to Linköping University full-time in 2017, Dr. Tarkian has been involved in several research projects, including AutoPack, which implements machine learning in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), ADAPT focusing on design automation in production preparation, and DeProtion, which emphasizes design automation in the construction sector. His teaching experience at Linköping University spans multiple levels of undergraduate education. He serves as an examiner for several courses, notably TMKT79, Collaborative Multidisciplinary Design Optimization, which has over 60 participants and has achieved a course grade of 4.0 since 2017, and TMKT57, Product Modeling, and Design Automation, that has more than 140 participants with a 4.0 course grade received in 2008.
