Biography

Completing DPhil at Oxford, Mehmet Ciftci became Étienne Gilson Postdoctoral Fellow at St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto. Returning to the UK, he took a position at the University of Oxford as a Research Assistant at the McDonald Centre in the Faculty of Theology and Religion and served as a Public Bioethics Fellow at the Anscombe Bioethics Centre, Oxford. He is the Custodian of the Library at Pusey House and has published widely in academic journals on subjects including liberation theology, the Qur’an, the critique of political ideologies, and Mariology. He authored a monograph entitled "Vatican II on Church-State Relations: What Did the Council Teach, and What's Wrong With It?" published in 2024 by Palgrave Macmillan. His future research will focus on the theological origins of constitutionalism.
