Biography

M. Evren Soylu is a research faculty member in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D. in Hydrologic Sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2011, following a Master's degree and a Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeological Engineering from Hacettepe University in Turkey, obtained in 2004 and 2001, respectively. Dr. Soylu completed postdoctoral research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2014. His professional background includes work in environmental consulting firms before he joined Georgia Tech as a research engineer in 2018. His research focuses on enhancing the understanding of the linkages between groundwater, land surface processes, and climate, with particular emphasis on incorporating field observations and numerical models to comprehend the interactions between surface and subsurface hydrological processes, vegetation dynamics, and changes in climate, land cover, and human activities.
