Biography

Mehran Shirazi joined the School of Engineering at the University of British Columbia Okanagan in May 2019. He is passionate about teaching and enjoys sharing knowledge with his students. His goal is to make classes interesting and useful, aiming to help students find their passion for learning and prepare them for their future careers. He teaches a range of undergraduate courses, including Engineering Analysis II, Engineering Computation, Linear Algebra for Engineers, and Modern Control, among others. Shirazi holds a Ph.D. in Mechatronic Systems Engineering from Simon Fraser University, Canada, and both an M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering - Control Systems from Isfahan University of Technology, Iran. He has received multiple teaching awards at UBC Okanagan, including the Outstanding Instructor Award and the Golden Apple Teaching Excellence Award. He is committed to fostering a supportive learning environment and continuously seeks ways to enhance his teaching methods. Shirazi's research interests primarily encompass Control Systems and Autonomous Vehicles, areas where he actively engages in both pedagogical and scholarly activities.
