Dr. Mehrdad Ehsani

Biography

Mehrdad Ehsani is a Professor at Texas A&M University in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, an M.S. from the University of Texas at Austin, and a B.S. from the University of Texas at Austin. His research interests are expansive and focus on Sustainable Power Energy Systems, Power Electronics, and Motor Drives, among other areas. He is particularly engaged in the study of Electric Hybrid Vehicles and Superconductive Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES), contributing significantly to Aerospace Power Systems and specialized Power Systems. Additionally, Ehsani emphasizes Control Systems and Energy Storage Systems, including High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Power Transmission and applications involving Microcomputers. He is well-respected within the engineering community, being a Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Ehsani has received several awards for his contributions to the field and has served as a Distinguished Speaker for various IEEE societies.
