Dr. Mehrunisha Suleman

Biography

Mehrunisha Suleman is an associate professor at the University of Oxford in the Medical Sciences Division, focusing on medical ethics and public health research. Trained as a bioethicist, her research spans healthcare systems analysis and empirical ethics evaluation, with a specific focus on the intersection of global health, cultural values, and patient-clinician dynamics. She leads public engagement initiatives concerning genomics and Islamic ethics, and she co-leads the GLIDE project, addressing ethical frameworks in pandemic preparedness. Her doctoral research scrutinized ethics governance in low and middle-income countries, particularly in Muslim communities, and her findings were published in 'Islam and Biomedical Research Ethics' by Routledge. In addition to her research endeavors, she is responsible for teaching medical ethics and law at both undergraduate and graduate levels, while adapting her curriculum to reflect equality and diversity.
