Biography

Meicen Sun is an assistant professor at the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research examines the political economy of information, data geopolitics, and information policy. Her writings have appeared in numerous academic policy outlets, including International Organization, Foreign Policy Analysis, and Harvard Business Review. Previously, she conducted research at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the UN Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa. Sun is bilingual in English and Chinese and has written stories, plays, and staged works. She has served as a Fellow for the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on China and is affiliated with MIT FutureTech. Sun holds an AB with honors from Princeton University, a Certificate in Law from the University of Pennsylvania, and a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University.
