Professor Dr. Mel Rutherford

Biography

Mel Rutherford is a Professor in the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour at McMaster University. He has a strong background in psychology with a doctoral degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara and a bachelor's degree from Yale University. Additionally, he completed postdoctoral training as a Fellow in psychology at the University of Denver from 2000 to 2002. His research interests encompass cognitive development and evolutionary psychology, particularly within the cognitive sciences. He has dedicated significant efforts to teaching and scholarly works in these areas, contributing to advancements in understanding cognitive processes and behaviors. As the Department Chair, he leads initiatives that promote interdisciplinary collaboration and enhance educational strategies within cognitive neuroscience and behavioral studies.
