Professor of Youth Literature and Culture at the School of Education, teaching and researching topics related to children's and young adult literature and book culture. Joined the University of Glasgow in April 2021, prior to which I was an Associate Professor in Publishing and Book Studies at University College London. I am an expert in inclusive youth literature and have published widely on this topic, along with numerous publications regarding contemporary book culture. I have written or co-written several books, including 'Publishing Business' (Bloomsbury, 2018), 'Inclusive Young Adult Fiction' (Palgrave, 2019), and forthcoming titles such as 'YA Anthologies: Amplifying Voices, Building Community' (Cambridge University Press, 2024). I also serve as editor or co-editor for series such as 'Young Adult Publishing' and 'Children's Classics Critically'. My connection to inclusive youth literature extends beyond academia as I judge the UKYA Book Prize and serve on advisory boards for various projects. My research interests cover children's and young adult (YA) reading, publishing, writing, and book culture, focusing on how young people engage with literature and the dynamics shaping the children's and YA literature fields.
