In 2013, Melanie Walker commenced her PhD under the supervision of Rowena Bull, Fabio Luciani, and Andrew Lloyd, researching the understanding of transmitted/founder virus phenotypic traits and neutralising antibody responses to transmitted/founder viruses. In 2018, she transitioned to a postdoctoral position at the Centre for Medical Parasitology, University of Copenhagen, where she focused on characterising the humoral immune response to monoclonal antibodies against malaria merozoite antigens and the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. In 2023, Melanie returned to Sydney to join the VISP group as a postdoctoral researcher. Her current project involves working with panels of HCV envelope antigens to help guide the development of broadly neutralising antibodies.
