Dr. Melinda Millard Stafford

Biography

Melinda L. Millard-Stafford is a Professor in the School of Biological Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She serves as the Director of the Exercise Physiology Laboratory and has extensive experience in the domains of exercise physiology and applied physiology. She has a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Georgia and has been an influential figure in the study of human performance, particularly in thermally-challenging environments. Professor Millard-Stafford’s research interests include exercise physiology and sports nutrition, specifically hydration strategies, carbohydrate replacement, and the effects of caffeine. She has held leadership positions in professional organizations, including past President of the American College of Sports Medicine and member of the National Academy of Kinesiology. Her teaching focuses on exercise physiology and topics related to sport science.
