Biography

Melinda S. Zook is the Germaine Seelye Oesterle Professor of History at Purdue University, where she also serves as the Director of Cornerstone: Integrated Liberal Arts. She specializes in Early Modern European History, with a focus on Tudor-Stuart England, political thought, culture, and women's history. Zook holds a Ph.D. from Georgetown University, which she obtained in 1993. Her research has resulted in several published works, including the scholarly book 'Radical Whigs and Conspiratorial Politics in Late Stuart England' and 'Protestantism, Politics, and Women in Britain, 1660-1714', which received the Book Award from the Society for the Study of Early Modern Women in 2013. She has co-edited various volumes addressing women's histories and socio-cultural contexts within the early modern period. Zook's work aims to integrate the narratives of men and women in history. Her teaching includes courses on Shakespeare, medieval history, and political culture, engaging students in critical thinking about historical texts and themes. Currently, she is not accepting graduate students, focusing instead on her ongoing projects and teaching assignments.
