Dr. Melissa Bauer

Biography

Melissa Bauer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Population Health Sciences at Duke University. Her clinical expertise is in anesthesiology with a specialization in obstetric anesthesia and critical care anesthesia. Dr. Bauer completed her residency in anesthesiology at the University of Michigan, where she also pursued fellowships in obstetric anesthesia and critical care. Her research focuses on maternal-fetal medicine, particularly in implementing care practices to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality associated with infections. Dr. Bauer has received grants from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development to support her ongoing research initiatives in maternal sepsis and community health practices.
