Dr. Melissa Cushing

Biography

Melissa Cushing, M.D., is a leading expert in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, currently serving as a Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College and the Executive Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. She completed her M.D. at Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2001, followed by a clinical pathology residency at Emory University School of Medicine in 2005 and a fellowship in Transfusion Medicine and Cellular Therapy at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 2006. Dr. Cushing has been part of the faculty at Weill Cornell Medical College since October 2006, where she also serves as the Medical Director of Clinical Laboratories and the Division Director of Transfusion Medicine and Cellular Therapy. Her research and clinical interests include transfusion medicine and laboratory medicine, with a commitment to providing world-class patient care. She is board-certified by the American Board of Pathology in both Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine and Clinical Pathology, emphasizing her expertise in these specialized fields. In her career, Dr. Cushing has been involved in substantial collaborations with both for-profit and non-profit organizations, enhancing scientific communication and innovation in her areas of expertise.
