Biography

Melissa Garrido is a Research Professor at Boston University School of Public Health in the Department of Health Law, Policy, and Management. She directs the Partnered Evidence-Based Policy Resource Center (PEPReC) at the Boston VA Healthcare System. Dr. Garrido's expertise encompasses econometrics, evidence-based policy, geriatrics, palliative care, and behavioral health care. Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Health Services Research, Policy, and Administration from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and she completed a postdoctoral traineeship in mental health services research at the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research at Rutgers University. Dr. Garrido has been recognized with several awards, including the Veterans Affairs HSR&D Career Development Award and the AHRQ/National Research Service Award. She has led various significant projects, receiving funding from multiple sources to enhance healthcare policy and practice.
