Dr. Melissa Morgan

Biography

Melissa Morgan is an Associate Professor and Director of Choirs at the University of Regina, specializing in choral music and singing. She conducts several choirs, including auditioned Chamber Singers and non-auditioned Concert Choir, and teaches courses in choral conducting while serving on various university committees. She has been the music director for Campion College and the Musica Sacra music series. An active conductor, her choirs have performed at prestigious venues such as Lincoln Centre in New York and Cadogan Hall in London. Morgan is frequently invited as a clinician and guest conductor throughout North America. Her scholarly work includes publications in the American Choral Directors Association's Choral Journal and the Canadian Music Educators Association Journal. Currently, she is focused on writing an Open Educational Resource (OER) textbook aimed at emerging vocalists and actors as well as contributing to a new book on women composers. Morgan presents her research at various local, national, and international events, covering topics like Prairie Choral Music and BIPOC representation in the vocal world. She holds a Doctorate of Music Performance in Choral Conducting from the University of Toronto and has degrees in Music Performance and Education from the University of Regina.
