Biography

Melissa D. Newell holds a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from the University of Florida, awarded in 2005. She also earned a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Audiology and Speech Hearing Sciences from Indiana University in 1996 and 1994, respectively. Since August 2015, she has been a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences at Purdue University. She has extensive experience providing diagnostic assessments and rehabilitation services in hospital settings, particularly for high-risk infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Units, as well as for geriatric patients. Dr. Newell specializes in advanced vestibular assessment and collaborates with rehabilitation providers. Additionally, she supervises second-year Au.D. students at the Purdue Audiology Clinic and teaches the course 'Vestibular Assessment Rehabilitation.' She is also an active member of professional organizations including the American Academy of Audiology and the Vestibular Disorders Association.
