Dr. Melissa Toffanin

Biography

Melissa Toffanin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto Metropolitan University. Her academic research focuses on empirical corporate finance issues, including ownership structure, mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, and corporate governance. Additionally, she has conducted research on financial education, specifically examining the use and efficacy of clicker technology in the finance classroom. She has published articles in journals such as the Journal of Corporate Finance and Journal of Further Higher Education. Toffanin has presented her work at several international academic conferences, including the Financial Management Association and the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada. She has been teaching a second-year introductory corporate finance course since Fall 2012. Her interests include empirical corporate finance, corporate governance, mergers, acquisitions, ownership structure, and initial public offerings.
