Biography

Mengqian joined Adam Smith Business School in 2023 as a Lecturer in Finance. She received her PhD and MSc in Finance from the University of Manchester. Her research interests lie in empirical corporate finance, focusing on cash holdings, corporate financing decisions, securities issuance, seasoned equity offerings (SEOs), and stock market reactions. She serves as a reviewer for esteemed journals such as the British Accounting Review, International Journal of Finance and Economics, European Journal of Finance, and Economic Modelling. Mengqian is also a member of the Finance research cluster at the School, with areas of expertise including corporate finance, cash holdings, corporate securities issuance, SEOs, and stock market reactions. Furthermore, she has interests in FinTech, green finance, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors.
