Dr. Mengxia Liu

Biography

Mengxia Liu is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Yale University, also holding an appointment in the Department of Applied Physics. He specializes in the advancement of next-generation optoelectronic materials and device applications for energy, sensing, and information technologies. His research focuses on developing high-throughput methods to create thin-film semiconductors that can transform electronic devices. Liu's work includes the utilization of metal halide perovskites, nanostructured quantized materials, and hybrid systems to design photodetectors, solar cells, LEDs, and lasers. He employs time-resolved optical techniques to explore the electronic structural dynamics of materials over a broad range of time scales, leveraging these insights to enable novel device concepts that push the performance limits of devices.
