Dr. Meredith Lilly

Biography

Meredith Lilly is a full Professor and the Simon Reisman Chair in International Economic Policy at Carleton University’s Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. Her research primarily focuses on North American trade relations, Canada's trade diversification strategies, and the use of economic sanctions in policy-making. Prior to her current role at Carleton, Professor Lilly served as a Foreign Affairs and International Trade Advisor to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and held positions within various Canadian government departments. She has also been affiliated with the University of British Columbia Okanagan, where she contributed to policy development. Professor Lilly frequently engages with foreign governments and diplomats and is a regular media commentator on North American trade issues. Additionally, she is an active member of the CD Howe Institute's International Economic Policy Council and a non-resident scholar at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy. She contributes as an Advisory Board member for the Canadian Global Affairs Institute and acts as an Academic Partner for Canada’s delegation to the North American Forum.
