Biography

Clinical Professor Meredith Makeham is the Chief Medical Adviser at the Australian Digital Health Agency, holding professorial appointments at the University of Sydney and Macquarie University. As a practicing general practitioner in Sydney, she plays a pivotal role in leading clinical governance, safety, and quality in digital health initiatives. Since joining the Agency in November 2016, she has significantly contributed to Australia's National Digital Health Strategy, including the Health Record system's rollout. Meredith oversees the clinical governance framework and engages with key clinical organizations to enhance workforce education and safety assurance activities. Her research focuses on primary care patient safety, incident reporting, and the safe use of digital health technologies. She has authored seminal publications on patient safety in primary care, conducted studies on the Health Record system, and collaborated internationally on various patient safety initiatives. Meredith is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has served in various philanthropic and advisory roles, emphasizing her commitment to improving health outcomes and education in the medical field.
