Biography

Meredithe McNamara, MD, MS, FAAP, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, specializing in Adolescent Medicine. She is dedicated to the care of youth aged 11-25 and supervises pediatric residents at Fair Haven Community Health Center and other Yale-affiliated subspecialty sites. Her research focuses on implementing care practices for youth facing complex trauma and high-risk social situations. Dr. McNamara has conducted research on trauma-informed systems in pediatric trauma centers in Chicago, and she works on developing culturally appropriate curricula for adolescent medicine in both global and local settings using innovative technologies. Currently, she is creating curricula for medical schools in Uganda, collaborating with stakeholders from Busitema University and Makerere University. Dr. McNamara completed her Doctor of Medicine and Master’s in Clinical Research at Emory University in 2013, her pediatrics residency at the University of Chicago in 2016, and her fellowship in Adolescent Medicine from the University of Illinois-Chicago in 2021.
