Dr. Meryle Weinstein

Biography

Meryle Weinstein is a Research Professor in the area of Education Policy at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, New York University. Her academic focus centers on inequalities in education, specifically examining how neighborhood resources and school factors influence student achievement. She also engages in evaluative work, collaborating with institutions like the American Museum of Natural History on initiatives such as the Urban Advantage MAT Residency Program. Dr. Weinstein’s research extends to school food policies and the effects of pupil transportation and the built environment on student health and academic success. Prior to her current role, she studied substance abuse and HIV at the University of California, San Francisco, and the San Francisco VA Hospital. She earned her doctorate from the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University, where her studies emphasized quantitative methods to ascertain causal effects of education programs and policies.
