Dr. Mette Christoffersen

Biography

Mette Christoffersen is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen specializing in Large Animal Medicine, Surgery, and Reproduction. Her primary research focus is on infertility in horses, particularly addressing issues such as infectious endometritis, inflammation, immunology, and endometrial fibrosis. She contributes to enhancing the understanding of the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of both acute and chronic endometritis in mares. Mette is experienced in clinical work, laboratory techniques, and project management, having supervised numerous veterinary bachelor and Master students. She has held PhD supervision roles, with a track record of completed projects. Mette is an active participant in peer review processes for various journals and has contributed to lectures, seminars, and workshops aimed at veterinary students and practitioners. Her research utilizes in vivo and in vitro models to investigate the complexities of equine reproduction.
