Mevin Hooten joined the University of Texas at Austin in 2021 as a professor. He was previously a professor at Colorado State University and the assistant unit leader of the Colorado Cooperative Fish Wildlife Research Unit. He was elected a fellow of the American Statistical Association in 2017 and served as chair of the ASA Section on Statistics and the Environment in 2021. Hooten also serves as an associate editor for several journals including Biometrics, Annals of Applied Statistics, Environmetrics, and the Journal of Agricultural, Biological, and Environmental Statistics. He has authored three books and over 160 scientific publications in the areas of Bayesian spatio-temporal statistics and its applications in ecology, epidemiology, and environmental science.
