Biography

A passionate advocate for music and music education, Mia Bach's professional experience spans a spectrum of roles as a professional pianist. Her journey began with advanced piano pedagogy and concerto appearances with orchestras, debuting at age 16 with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra at the Eastman School of Music. As a recitalist, chamber musician, and touring soloist, she has collaborated with Canada’s foremost choral conductors such as Lydia Adams and John Tuttle. Mia has performed numerous master classes as a collaborative pianist with visiting artists at the University of Toronto, including Elly Ameling and Marilyn Horne. Her recital performances include collaborations with Metropolitan Opera bass Paul Plishka and recordings with Russell Braun for the Ukrainian Art Song Project. With teaching appointments at Eastman School of Music's summer school, Mia’s multi-faceted career highlights her commitment to nurturing young musicians. At the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music, she serves as a collaborative pianist in Voice Studies, and as a classroom instructor in Oratorio Accompanying, while also being an applied piano instructor for undergraduate pianists. As a performer, coach, and educator, Mia adopts a comprehensive approach to musical preparation and performance artistry.
