Biography

Micaela Matta is a Lecturer in Computational Materials Chemistry at King's College London. She obtained her Master's and PhD degrees from the University of Bologna and has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Bordeaux and Northwestern University. In 2019, she joined the University of Liverpool as a recipient of the Royal Society Newton International Fellowship and a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship. Dr. Matta's research interests focus on bioinspired and bioderived biocompatible materials for electronics, designing organic mixed ionic-electronic conductors, and studying the morphology and charge transport in conjugated polymers. Additionally, she teaches various subjects including Advanced Topics in Physical Computational Chemistry and oversees research methods for undergraduate students. Her research group employs a range of computational modeling techniques, including machine learning and quantum chemistry, to design and characterize functional materials for biomedical applications, as well as energy and information storage.
