Biography

Dr. Michael Bagby is a Full Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto. He holds primary appointments in both the Graduate Department of Psychology and the Institute of Medical Sciences, and serves as the Director of the Clinical Laboratory for Personality, Psychopathology, and Psychodiagnostics. Furthermore, Dr. Bagby is a Collaborative Scientist with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, where he focuses on research in clinical psychology and pharmacogenetics. With a certification from the American Board of Assessment Psychology, he is a registered psychologist within the College of Psychologists of Ontario. His research interests include the phenotypic structure of psychopathology, the validity and reliability of psychological assessment instruments, and the role of personality as a mediator and moderator of treatment outcomes in major depression. He is a prominent figure in the field of psychological assessment with expertise in detecting malingering and the assessment of personality psychopathology. Dr. Bagby has received both the Distinguished Assessment Psychologist Award from the American Psychological Association and the Bruno Klopfer Award for his lifetime contributions to psychological assessment. In addition to his extensive research and clinical practice, he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in various aspects of psychology, including Abnormal Psychology and Psychological Assessment.
