Dr. Michael Bennett

Biography

Professor Michael Bennett is a Conjoint Professor in the School of Clinical Medicine at the University of New South Wales. His work primarily focuses on Hyperbaric Medicine, an area often regarded with skepticism by medical graduates due to the prevalent ignorance surrounding the effects of high doses of oxygen and the limited clinical research in this field. Professor Bennett collaborates with colleagues from the USA, UK, and Germany to compile, appraise, and perform a number of meta-analyses and comparative clinical trials. His current research agenda includes conducting a series of randomized clinical trials to explore areas identified as promising in Hyperbaric Medicine. He actively participates in the ANZCA Clinical Trials Network and the Australian Clinical Trials Alliance (ACTA). Bennett holds multiple qualifications, including MB BS (UNSW) and MD (UNSW). He has also held significant positions in several professional societies, including Secretary of the Australia New Zealand Hyperbaric Medicine Group and President of the South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society.
