Dr. Michael Bowe

Biography

Mike Bowe is an Emeritus Professor of International Finance and the Head of the Division of Accounting and Finance at the Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. He joined the faculty in 1993 and has held various prominent positions, including serving as the Head of Finance and Business Economics subject area groups. With a background from Oxford University, Mike has also been a faculty member at Simon Fraser University in Canada and a research associate at Columbia University in the USA. He is the Founding Director of the Centre for Analysis of Investment Risk (CAIR), established in 2005, which works in partnership with major international banking and financial services institutions. Mike has experience in teaching and research internationally, with contracts at universities including the University of Malta, University of Vienna, and Helsinki School of Economics. His research interests cover the spectrum of international financial markets, focusing on sovereign and private debt markets, capital market integration, and market microstructure. He is also actively involved in research funding, with total awards exceeding GBP 1.75 million, and has supervised numerous PhD students, many of whom have achieved significant roles in academia and industry.
