Biography

Michael Bradley served as Academic Director of the Global Capital Markets Center, a joint research center of the Fuqua School of Business and the Duke Law School, and was the Chairman of the Finance Department from 1996 to 1999. He held the position of Everett E. Berg Professor of Business Administration at the University of Michigan between 1985 and 1995 and has received his Ph.D. in economics, finance, and industrial organization from the University of Chicago. His teaching and research focus on the intersection of corporate finance and corporate law, and he has published extensively in areas such as corporate capital structure, mergers and acquisitions, takeover defenses, and insider trading. He has been recognized for his teaching excellence by being chosen as an Outstanding Teacher by MBA students at the Simon School of Business in 1979 and at the Fuqua School in 1996 and 2001. In addition to his teaching, he has been actively involved in corporate governance issues and testified in important cases and before the Senate Banking Committee. His research has been published across various leading journals and has cited by numerous textbooks and professional journals.
